US President Donald Trump praised Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Wednesday, calling him “courageous” and said he was “doing pretty well” in the struggle against Russia. Trump told reporters from the White House, alongside NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, that “He’s doing pretty well, no matter how you look at it”.
He’s holding his own, at least,” Trump added. “A lot of people dying on both sides, but I think he’s doing pretty well” . You have to say he’s brave, he’s got fantastic equipment, wonderful men, and warriors,” he continued.
Trump’s remarks came as Ukraine seeks to cut off the Russian-occupied Crimean Peninsula by striking energy infrastructure and transportation ties. Mykhailo Fedorov, Ukraine’s defense minister, has stated that Crimea will soon “turn into an island”.
Logistics are being cut off,” he stated in an interview with the YouTube channel Pressing, adding: “This could lead to some very unforeseen results for the Russians.”According to Zelenskyy, Russian soldiers are currently redeploying some air defense systems to secure the Crimean Bridge, which connects Crimea to Russian-occupied territory on the mainland.
