A Shooting in Montreal Resulted in The Deaths of a Police Officer

An incident in Montreal on Monday resulted in the deaths of a police officer and a civilian, while another officer sustained injuries. Police had issued a warning to the residents of the Côte-des-Neiges neighborhood in the city about a “armed and dangerous suspect” at approximately midday. They advised them to enter their homes and secure their entrances.

According to Fady Dagher, the Montreal Police chief, the force received a contact at 11:35 a.m. regarding a shooter at the Hilton hotel. He stated that a citizen, who was a witness, had called to report that an individual was present at the window with a rifle. He also stated that the suspect was fatally shot by police after they arrived at the scene and made their way to the ground floor.

The officer who was fatally shot was identified by the Montreal Police as 34-year-old Mohamed Lamine Benredouane. Our organization faces an immense loss with his passing. The force issued a statement that stated, “His sense of duty, dedication, and professionalism will be forever remembered.”
