US President Donald Trump and law enforcement authorities reported that a confrontation with Secret Service agents near the White House on Saturday resulted in the death of a gunman. According to a statement from Anthony Guglielmi, the chief of communications for the US Secret Service, the person pulled out a gun and started shooting just after six o’clock on Saturday night in the vicinity of Pennsylvania Avenue and 17th Street. Guglielmi claims that although Trump was in the White House at the time, the incident had no effect on him.
The guy was taken to a nearby hospital and declared dead when Secret Service Police returned fire, according to the statement. One bystander was also hit by gunfire during the shooting. Trump commended authorities for their “swift and professional action” and said the shooter had a “violent history and possible obsession” with the White House in a post on Truth Social.
The move “goes to show how important it is, for all future Presidents, to get, what will be, the most safe and secure space of its kind ever built in Washington, D.C.,” Trump said.In the past two years, there have been several alleged attempts to kill Trump.
