Following Lung Surgery, Pope Leo XIV has a Good Nite at The Hospital, According to The Vatican

The Vatican reported on Thursday that Pope Leo XIV had a “good nite” in the hospital and had eaten breakfast while recuperating from lung cancer surgery. The pope had a pleasant evening in the hospital. In a brief post on Telegram, the Vatican stated, “He got up and had breakfast.

The 71-year-old leader of the 1.4 billion Catholics worldwide declared on Sunday that he would have a lung nodule removed. Following the treatment on Tuesday at Rome’s Gemelli hospital, the Vatican disclosed that a portion of his right lung had been removed by surgeons and that the growth was malignant.

The Vatican reported on Wednesday that the pope’s recuperation was “proceeding as expected.” The pope even celebrated Mass in a specially prepared room on the tenth level of the hospital on Wednesday, according to a Vatican source.

In order to ascertain whether the cancer has spread, the pope is currently awaiting the results of a biopsy. The Vatican had predicted that the pope’s recuperation would take a week prior to the procedure. His shows scheduled for October 20th have been cancelled.

The latest leader to wish the pope well was US President Donald Trump, who has harshly criticised Francis for his anti-war stance. After speaking at a campaign rally in Arizona on Wednesday, Trump stated, “It’s big stuff anytime you have cancer, but the prognosis seems to be good.”
