Rajat Bhageria is taking on a difficult new challenge seven years after starting a robotics business in America San Francisco: creating robots without Chinese assistance. Chef Robotics, like the majority of US-based robotics companies, now mostly relies on Chinese parts to produce the robot arms it sells to food makers so they may automate the preparation of prepared meals. China is a key supplier of competitive tech products worldwide due to its capacity to produce inexpensive parts in unmatched volumes.
However, an increasingly protectionist US under President Donald Trump has tightened limitations on the domestic use of Chinese technology, including drones, mobile robots, and other vital electronics, as China has started to dominate sophisticated industries like automated factories and electric automobiles.
It was like, ‘Hey, let’s find the best components, and let’s find them at the cheapest price,'” Bhageria recalled for a while. Investors and clients now ask a different question: “Why are you still using foreign-made parts? Concerns about national security threats tied to an excessive reliance on Chinese systems and supply chains have grown as the US-China rivalry intensifies.
