In an address to the UN General Assembly, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vehemently defended his nation’s military operations in Iran, Gaza, and other parts of the Middle East. Netanyahu promised to keep fighting as scores of delegates left the platform in protest, saying, “We’re going to win. We have no other choice.”
He responded to the walkout by saying, “If there are any other moral cowards who haven’t left the hall, please do so now.” Additionally, the Israeli leader denied claims that Israel is carrying out genocide in Gaza.
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas warned the UN hours earlier that Israeli policies, particularly the unlawful growth of Jewish settlements in the occupied West Bank, endangered “the very life and existence of the Palestinian people on their homeland” in a recorded message.
Additionally, he claimed that it put the two-state solution—an internationally supported formula for peace between Israel and the Palestinians—in jeopardy. According to Abbas, the Israeli force is engaging in “killing, destruction, starvation and attempts at displacement, as well as a genocidal war” against Palestinians in Gaza. Due to his denial of a US entrance visa, the Palestinian leader was speaking to the annual assembly via video link.
