Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the president of Ukraine, has issued a warning that Russia might be getting ready to launch a “massive” military offensive against his country. In a social media post late on Friday, Zelenskyy stated, “We have intelligence indicating that Russia is preparing a new massive attack.
He also cautioned people to stay careful and pay attention to air raid sirens. As usual, the air force and those who guard our skies will be working nonstop,” he continued. This comes after Russia launched a series of attacks on the Kyiv area last weekend using its nuclear-capable Oreshnik missile. According to Ukraine, 600 drones and 90 missiles were used in the assault.
Zelenskyy also restated his demand for additional Patriot missile systems from the United States on Friday. Ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, drones, and airplanes can all be intercepted by the Patriot air and missile defense system.
Zelenskyy was “very persistent” in his search for new missiles for the system, he told reporters in Sweden on Thursday. He reportedly requested more ammo in a letter to US President Donald Trump earlier this week.
