On Wednesday, Colombia was rocked by an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.1, which caused trembling at a number of locations in the country’s centre and northeast, including Bogotá, the nation’s capital. The earthquake was felt throughout the entire region, including in the cities of Bucaramanga, Piedecuesta, and Floridablanca, in addition to Bogotá.
A number of buildings in the capital city were evacuated after alarms were activated, and the city of Bucaramanga was also ordered to evacuate its residents for preventative measures. The authorities have not yet recorded any loss of life or property damage as a result of the earthquake.
The earthquake occurred on Wednesday at approximately 11:45 am local time, as reported by the Colombian Geological Survey. The epicentre of the earthquake was located in Los Santos, which is located in the Santander department of Colombia.
