Ukraine Claims that Russian Drones Attacked a Border Crossing with Moldova During the Night

The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine claimed in a statement on Friday morning that Russian drones had damaged a border crossing with Moldova in the southern Odesa region of Ukraine overnight.

The border agency said on Telegram that traffic through the Tabaky checkpoint has been halted and redirected to other crossings. The statement also said that Chișinău’s Moldovan authorities have been notified.

The announcement follows hours after another drone entered the NATO member’s airspace and crashed close to the Ukrainian border, and a day after a Romanian F-16 fighter jet destroyed an explosive-laden maritime drone near Europe’s largest offshore gas project.

The drone was carrying explosives, according to Defence Minister Radu Miruła, and Kyiv had established it was not Ukrainian. The incident was part of “an escalating campaign of threats” against the European Union, according to Ursula von der Leyen, president of the European Commission.”This is hybrid warfare,” she declared, blaming those in charge of trying to fracture the bloc and unnerve Europeans. Additionally, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte announced the creation of the Eastern Sentry program, which attempts to prevent additional Russian invasions, in response to a breach of Polish airspace.
