In order to discuss the government investing financially in the future of some of the nation’s most prominent artificial intelligence (AI) startups, US President Donald Trump is scheduled to meet with their executives. Trump stated that the US government’s investment in AI firms aims to “create almost a partnership with the American public” while speaking aboard Air Force One.
He anticipates meeting with executives of significant AI firms at the White House, probably next week. The largest US AI businesses are Google, Microsoft, OpenAI, SpaceX, and Anthropic, the latter two of which are anticipated to go public in the upcoming weeks, though the president did not specifically name any of them.
A Microsoft representative declined to comment. Requests for comment were not answered by representatives of the other four businesses. Trump likened the potential investment in AI to the US government acquiring a 10% share in computer chip manufacturer Intel last year. He asserted that the US had already profited from that investment.
