President Donald Trump’s immigration plan suffered a serious setback on Tuesday when the conservative Supreme Court ruled that his administration could not use an executive order to revoke birthright citizenship for hundreds of thousands of infants born in the United States each year.
The judgment is a big blow for a president whose administration has been characterized by an effort to crack down on both legal and illegal immigration, even though it was not predicted.
