Ahead of this year’s July 14 celebrations, France is preparing to host a gathering of the “Coalition of the Willing.” On Monday, at least 25 leaders of state or government are scheduled to meet in Paris to discuss support for Ukraine.
The alliance, which was founded in Paris and is co-led by the United Kingdom, presently consists of 37 nations and meets both in person and virtually. Moldova and North Macedonia, two new members, are expected to attend the meeting on Monday for the first time.
The French presidency has stated that the allies will meet at the Hôtel des Invalides with the goal of “strengthening” a renewed sense of unity and cooperation in support of Ukraine, which was reaffirmed at the recent G7 summit in Évian and at the NATO summit in Ankara, where allies pledged to provide Kyiv with €70 billion in military aid in 2026.
According to an advisor to French President Emmanuel Macron, the goal is to demonstrate that Western allies are still supporting Ukraine and that Moscow cannot rely on “war fatigue.”Leaders of the coalition will concentrate on air defense cooperation, particularly recently disclosed US intentions for Ukraine to produce Patriot missiles under license. The development of an anti-ballistic missile system will also be covered.
Regarding security assurances for Ukraine in the case of a hypothetical truce, the French presidency claims that preparations are “ready” to send a multinational force that would be stationed far from the front lines.
