The event, which took place at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory’s Grand Academic Hall, included pieces by Giacomo Puccini and Giuseppe Verdi in addition to compositions by Latif Khamidi and Akhmet Zhubanov.
The evening also commemorated the 120th anniversary of the birth of Kazakhstan’s first professional conductor, Akhmet Zhubanov, who is recognized as one of the pioneers of Kazakh classical music.
Performers from the Santa Cecilia Conservatory, including Kazakh soprano Maria Mudryak, shared the stage with soloists from Astana Opera.”To perform on the Santa Cecilia Conservatory stage and represent Kazakhstan at this event was truly a special and unforgettable experience,” Mudryak remarked.
The concert, which took place in the center of Rome, showcased the developing cultural connections between Italy and Kazakhstan through common classical traditions, music, and opera.
The “Armonia della Musica” performance, which was held in Rome to commemorate the opening of Kazakhstan’s Embassy to the Vatican and the first anniversary of Pope Leo XIV’s papacy, featured both Italian opera and Kazakh classical music.
