He is scheduled to remain until Sunday nite, at which point he is supposed to give the trophy to the tournament winner. According to sources, the Irish government will raise the ongoing situation in Palestine, the confrontation with Iran, backing for Ukraine, and EU-US trade relations before his visit to County Clare.
As part of ongoing trade negotiations and amid skyrocketing gas and oil costs driven by the Iran war, the president is also expected to push Ireland to buy US LNG. Twelve nations, including Ireland, released a statement endorsing sanctions against Israeli settlements in the West Bank. Dublin anticipated a severe retaliation from the White House regarding its targeting of Israel, a crucial friend, but Washington has not yet reacted.
Additionally, government sources told Euronews they expect a “St. Patrick’s Day style” meeting between Trump and the taoiseach, which would include an hour-long conversation on a variety of topics in a friendly environment.
