Late on Tuesday, the US attacked Iran for the eleventh night in a row, despite Tehran’s warning that the US should not target its nuclear facilities. The strikes were “designed to continue degrading Iran’s ability to threaten commercial shipping” in the Strait of Hormuz, according to US Central Command (Centcom).
Tehran, the country’s capital, had its air defenses activated, according to Iranian state media. Additionally, there were reports of explosions in Bushehr, the location of Iran’s sole nuclear power plant, Tabriz, Chabahar, and Konarak.
Following Donald Trump’s announcement that the US would soon strike an underground nuclear plant close to Natanz, Iran, which has reacted against the US and its Middle East allies, threatened retaliation.
A ceasefire between Iran and the United States was reached in April, but fighting broke out again this week as both nations fought for control of the crucial Strait of Hormuz waterway. According to Centcom, US forces have targeted Iranian military logistics infrastructure, aircraft hangars, drone storage facilities, maritime capabilities, and military operations centers. Additionally, it claimed that during the previous three months, Iran had attacked “more than 30 commercial vessels travelling through the Strait of Hormuz.
