Authorities reported that a man accused of stabbing and injuring three women in Paris on Monday morning with two kitchen knives had been taken into custody. “The perpetrator was apprehended by an off-duty police officer,” said Interior Minister Laurent Nunez, describing it as a “courageous act”. The attack happened in the northwest of the capital in the Porte de Clichy neighborhood at around 11.30 a.m.
Following the attack, the women, ages 19, 24, and 36, were brought to the hospital. One of the victims is allegedly pregnant, according to local media. According to Nunez, two were gravely injured but are not in grave danger. One woman was struck in the abdomen, while the other was struck in the lower back. Authorities were unable to confirm the attacker’s identify right away. When the suspect was being apprehended, he made a “incoherent” statement, but Nunez cautioned against assuming anything about his motivations.
