Top VW Stakeholders Demand Quick Action to Increase Competitiveness

Porsche SE, Volkswagen’s largest shareholder, has demanded that the German automaker act quickly to fend off growing competition from Chinese automakers. In the 89-year history of the organization, this might be the largest makeover.

Together, the Porsche and Piëch families possess about 31.9% of Volkswagen’s ownership thru their holding company, Porsche SE. The Volkswagen Group is at a pivotal moment in its history. Volkswagen’s future will depend on the choices it makes now. In a news statement, Hans Dieter Pötsch, chairman of Porsche SE’s board of management, stated, “Everyone must now step up and take responsibility for the company and its sustainable competitiveness. Additionally, Pötsch emphasized that important decisions must be made as soon as possible because the longer they are postponed, the more serious these problems will become.

This position may also indicate that, in order to address the present significant competition crisis affecting its long-term operations, Volkswagen will prioritize profit and restructuring over issues like labor rights and environmental concerns in the upcoming months.
